Hiniker Custom Signs & Printing offers all sizes of posters printed from your own print ready file or professionally designed and setup by us. Posters will be printed on the highest quality vinyl or photo gloss paper to produce the best color and resolution output. Posters are generally mounted to a sturdy substrate depending on how they will be displayed. The most popular choices for substrates are listed below.

Mounting Substrates

Poster Board – Poster board is available in black or white and is normally for interior use in a sign stanchion or for short time displays.
Coroplast – Coroplast or Corrugated Plastic is generally used for temporary outdoor signs. Because it’s made of plastic, it is an ideal substrate for outdoor use. The unique look of Coroplast is the fluted holes running down the inside causing the mounted print to have horizontal or vertical lines through it.
Foam board – Foam board is a standard for short term interior use. It is inexpensive and comes in 3/16″ or 1/2″ thickness which gives your prints a little more dimension than Poster board. This material is very delicate and easily dents if not handled with care.
Ultra Board– Ultra board is a more sturdy foam board. It comes in black and white and is available in numerous sizes. 3/16″ and 1/2″ is standard for interior displays. Ultraboard is comprised of a rigid PVC surface sandwiching a foam interior. It is normally used for mounting larger prints.
PVC board – This comes in several different brands including Sintra and Kommerling. This rigid substrate is made of pvc plastic and comes in 3/16″ and 1/2″ thicknesses. PVC also comes in a wide array of colors. PVC is a great substrate for smaller displays but it can get pretty heavy for larger displays. PVC can be used outside but in the direct heat and sunlight, it will warp and fade in color.
Polystyrene – This material is more of a printed material rather than a substrate. Polystyrene is weatherproof, tear resistant and a great choice for rolled up graphics. It’s thin and the print resolution is great displaying vibrant colors. It is normally used for display stands such as retractable banner stands and tiled back drops for conventions and trade shows.
MDO board – Medium density overlay panel is a plywood surface with a weather-resistant resin overlay bonded to the wood by heat and pressure. This resin content resists water, weather, wear and degradation. The standard thickness is 1/2″. MDO board is used for outdoor signs such as large construction and project signs.
Aluminum – Aluminum substrate is a fool proof choice for outdoor signs. It is durable, weather resistant and provides a smooth surface for mounting printed vinyl or cut vinyl to. Road signs, real estate signs and construction markers are examples of aluminum substrates being used.
Dibond – This is the most popular Aluminum Composite Material. This material consists of two prepainted sheets of .012 aluminum bonded to a solid polyethylene core. This combination makes it one half the weight of aluminum but still a very durable substitution. Dibond is easy to work with and very affordable, making it an excellent choice for an outdoor substrate.

Gloss, matte or satin over-laminate is a must for protecting your prints. A high quality laminate will add a thick clear coat to your prints giving them a gloss or matte finish. Your prints will be protected from spills, dirt, fingerprints and easy to wipe clean. Give them the finish you desire.
